Les Gets

Between Lake Geneva and Mt Blanc, in a mountain pass at 1200 metres altitude, Les Gets is our secret corner of paradise. An hour and a bit from Geneva Airport, approximately 8 hours from most channel ports, it is easily accessible whatever your mode of transport. Once you have arrived you are sure to be charmed by the town's traditional mountain village atmosphere and the Savoyard wood and stone chalet architecture: no modern appartment blocks here.

Les Gets dates back to the 11th century and the name Gets comes from the ancient French word "jets" – meaning the gaps in the trees down which wood was brought. The wooded lower slopes and the high mountain scenery are breathtaking. Facilties in the village include an health & fitness centre, bars, restaurants, bowling, cinema, a museum of mechanical music, many & varied shops…

In summer, July & August the village is busy, the lifts are open, weekly events are organised.

Spring and autumn are quieter but can be the most beautiful time to visit. The wild flowers in the spring are stunning, the weather is warm and, to their great joy, the cows are put out to graze, their bells adding a soundtrack to the invigorating sense of freshness and renewal.

The autumn is mild, right through to the end of October when the colours are at their most stunning. It is a great time for walking: fantastic clear blue skies interspersed with mellow mists and the heat of summer gone.
