Between Lake Geneva and Mt Blanc, in a mountain pass at
1200 metres altitude, Les Gets is our secret corner of paradise. An hour and a bit from Geneva Airport, approximately 8 hours from most channel ports, it is easily accessible whatever your mode of transport. Once you have arrived you are sure to be charmed by the town's traditional mountain village atmosphere and Savoyard wood and stone chalet architecture: no modern appartment blocks here.
Les Gets dates back to the 11th century and the name Gets comes from the ancient French word "jets" – meaning the gaps in the trees down which wood was brought. The wooded lower slopes and the high mountain scenery are breathtaking. Facilties in the village include an outdoor skating rink, health & fitness centre, bars, restaurants, bowling, cinema, many & varied shops…
In winter, Les Gets is generally covered in snow from Christmas to early April and the skiers and snowboarders take over. The mountains are beautiful in their white coats but, with the trees, it never becomes a moonscape.
The village arranges many events including Christmas festivities, a Mardi Gras carnival, a welcome drink every Monday evening and, in January, the Grand Odyssey dog sled racing tour will be back.
